The team participated representing University of Sri Jayewadhanepura has been awarded as the 2nd Runners Up at the recently concluded 26th International ICT Innovative Service Awards (INNOSERVE Awards), the Annual ICT application competition for University Students and College Students.
INNOSERVE Awards is currently the largest and one of the most significant Innovative Service Awards in Taiwan. It was organized by the Chinese Society for Information Management, in collaboration with the Industrial Development Bureau of Ministry of Economic Affairs, Computer Center of Ministry of Education, and the Taipei Computer Association.
The team from USJ consisting of four final year undergraduates of Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce; Pramuk Hewawasam, Dinuka Dilshan, Amandi Thennakoon, and Nipuni Fernando has been able to achieve this International Award for their Innovative Project SaniFly – Caring Beyond Cleaning.
SaniFly is an innovative project gradually developed by the team of these undergraduates with the invaluable mentorship of Dr. Lasith Gunawardena, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.
They began their journey with DHack-2020, an internal design-a-thon organized for the students of the department of IT. Later they were able to win two awards at the Slasscom National Ingenuity Awards 2021 for the – National Runner Up for Best Innovative Project/Product (University Category) and, the winner for the same competition at the Western Province.
The university, being one of the most reputed higher education institutions keeps providing the students with sufficient access to reach for the horizons they always dream of. This achievement, beyond any doubts is yet another milestone marked by the talented undergraduates, who are being fostered by the university.
